Christmas Photo Op
The rain let up long enough this weekend for the second annual Indian Summer Christmas Photo Shoot.A huge thank you has to go out to Javier for making it possible – he not only served as crew and cameraman, but he even found me a portable battery pack that I could plug the lights into. I had a plan, two strings of lights, one green garland, and a red bow. We left the dock at about 3:30, the tide was still quite high, and motored down to Clipper Marina while drinking egg nog well-laced with rum. There was no wind at all, so even though I had the jib up, everything was done under motor. I dropped Javier off on the outer dock and then for the first time ever, it was just me and my boat away from the dock. Boat bonding. It went really well. I did several passes by, hoping the sun was down enough that the lights would show up in the photos. Mostly they don’t, but its pretty anyway.I found that I could leave the tiller for a few moments here and there to do things like adjust starboard jib sheet, turn on the lights, pull up the port fender out of the picture. Granted, it was a completely still harbor, but baby steps. I think once I get some sort of bungie arrangement worked out, I’ll be able to do things like that even in some waves.Yay! I love my boat.
Another amazing thing: can you believe this was December? There it is, late afternoon, second weekend in December and I don’t even need a jacket (no comments allowed about the lack of PDF either – it was a PHOTO SHOOT!)
