BoatGirl’sIndianSummer

The adventures of me and my boat.

Assorted

Taj Majal SausalitoThis is what I pass each time I leave the marina and head out to the bay.  One of my favorite things about it is that it is colour coordinated – it has purple trim, and its sailboat and jet skiis have matching purple canvas.

I had a great sail last Sunday with a brand new crew: Toey, David, Ryan and Jessie.  There was some experience among them, but not recent or a lot, yet they all did great.  We had a beautiful sunny day with medium winds (15ish) so sailed around Angel Island, then docked for the requisite picnic.  There was an adorable fawn grazing at Ayala.

On the way back, we were attacked by pirates, but bravely fought them off.  If I can manage to upload the photo (having problems) I will.

Then this weekend, I was a little (okay, a lot) hungover for a fabulous Halloween party at Laura’s, so didn’t sail but instead started working on the tiny amount of brightwork that the Indian Summer has.  The hatchboard is immensely blistered.  I was really not looking forward to sanding it down, but someone suggested I buy a random orbital sander.  I got one for $35 and it is the best purchase of the year.  The varnish didn’t stand a chance.  I got it all off and the first coat of varnish on, so that hopefully it will be protected enough until next weekend.
